A Member of Parliament Encourages Government to Move Plans Along to Decriminalize Marijuana
Opposition Member of Parliament, Honourable David Osborne, is encouraging the government to move along with plans to decriminalize the use of marijuana.
Osborne says Montserrat is still trying to catch up with the rest of the world as many countries have made the use of the drug legal for personal use and for export.
In 2021 the government of Montserrat announced plans to decriminalize marijuana but this effort has since been tied up in legal issues, including international conventions signed by the British Government.
Osborne expresses concern about the number of young persons who have received a criminal record because of their convictions for small amounts of marijuana possession.
