Commissioner of Police Steve Foster Pleased With Work of UK Police on Montserrat

Commissioner of Police Steve Foster says the Royal Montserrat Police Service is pleased with the work done so far by United Kingdom police officers stationed on the island.

In a statement to ZJB News Mr. Foster confirmed that the RMPS has been working with Suffolk Police over the past year.

He says the partnership was created to develop the skills and training of local officers and support the modernization of the RMPS.

In addition, the RMPS has sought specialist assistance from a small team of UK investigators to work alongside its own officers in investigating several alleged offences.

Foster says these are ongoing investigations and therefore no further detail can be provided at this stage.

However, the officers are sworn in as RMPS special constables and operate within the RMPS processes.

The Commissioner says he is pleased with the ongoing work of the investigators to ensure all reports of serious matters can be investigated and local officers can improve their skills to the benefit the RMPS and the service it provides to the residents of Montserrat.
