Remembrance Sunday To Be Observed on November 13th
November 13th 2022 marks Remembrance Sunday on Montserrat. This year the ceremony, which will be held in the Little Bay War Memorial Park, is open for members of the public to attend.
Also referred to as Poppy Day, Remembrance Day honours the heroic efforts, achievements and sacrifices that were made in World War 1 (1914 – 1918), World War II (1939 – 1945) and subsequent wars.
The Commemoration, which includes a Wreath Laying Ceremony and a short Church Service, will commence at 8:00 am. Members of our Uniformed Bodies will be on parade.
Persons who have been honoured with medals and decorations are asked to wear them to the event and members of the public are be invited to lay wreaths in remembrance.
The Remembrance Day Service will be live streamed on GIU’s YouTube and Facebook pages, broadcast on ZJB and photographers will be in attendance.
The public is also invited to support the Poppy Appeal through donations in exchange for a poppy, which can be worn until Remembrance Sunday. Poppies can be found at the Governor’s Office, Office of the Deputy Governor, Office of the Premier, the General Post Office, Human Resources Management Unit and the MCWEL Licensing Office.
