Partial Sickout Delayed Flight At John A Osborne Airport
ZJB News is following a story where it was reported that security officers at the John A Osborne Airport staged a partial sick out Tuesday morning.
Information reaching ZJB News from reliable sources, state that officers who are required to work 6 hours per day per shift, have been carrying 12 hour shifts instead.
According to the sources, the workers felt they were short-changed and decided to stay home citing the need for additional support and a change in working conditions.
The action taken by the security personnel Tuesday meant that a scheduled 10:30 am flight was delayed for just over half an hour…. leaving later at just after 11:00am
ZJB News also learnt that after some persuasion, including that some passengers had connecting flights, some security officers came out to meet the Air Saftey Support International (ASSI) requirement of 5 officers on duty for the day-time airport operation to take place.
The full compliment of security staff at the John A Osborne Airport is 14 including the Chief Security Supervisor.
