Fishermen Affected by Little Bay Port Project to Receive Compensation
Fishermen affected by the Little Bay Port development Project are in line to receive compensation.
That’s according to a Resettlement Action Plan, based on the Social and Economic Assessment of the Project.
Principal Marine Scientist at Stantec Consulting International Sam Salley says the plan is to ensure that persons who are directly displaced either economically or physically are adequately compensated.
Under the Plan there are five categories of persons who could be affected.
These are fishers who moor at Little Bay, fishers who fish on the Little Bay reef, spear fishers, tour operators, water sports tours and bird watching operators.
He says these persons could receive help with fuel, assistance with moorings and boat trailers.
Salley says the Resettlement Action Plan also includes other forms of assistance.
