Employers Advised to Follow the Law and Compensate Workers for Public Holidays
Persons who work on public holidays are entitled to double their normal wage from their employers.
That has been made clear by the Labour Department.
Speaking on the programme Labour and You Labour Officer Phillip Mulcare indicated that this practice was observed and several complaints received by the department.
Mr. Mulcare stated that not to properly compensate workers is a breach of the labour code.
