Government’s Support to Local Food Production Showing Visible Signs of Success
Government’s initiatives in support of increasing food production on the island has paid dividends.
That’s according to Minister of Agriculture, the Honourable Crenston Buffonge.
He says farmers both professional and part time have responded to the call to safeguard Montserrat’s food security during the coronavirus pandemic.
Mr. Buffonge, speaking on the budget on Tuesday says this has allowed the ministry to achieve its goals, geared towards revitalizing agriculture including crops, livestock and poultry.
Meantime,
Mr. Buffonge says the ministry will engage in training programmes for fishers to improve safety while at sea.
Mr. Buffonge also says the ministry will embark on an exercise to register fishing vessels.
