Governor Pearce Issues Urgent Appeal to Persons to Register for COVID-19 Vaccine
Governor His Excellency Andrew Pearce has issued an urgent appeal for persons here to register for the Covid-19 vaccine.
Governor Pearce says there are approximately 900 Oxford AstraZeneca vaccines left from the first batch of 3, 000, and these would go to waste if not used by the end of this month.
Speaking to ZJB News on Tuesday, he said the vaccine is in high demand worldwide, and that residents here have a collective duty to protect the island from the pandemic
that has caused 3.2 million deaths.
Governor Pearce says the vaccine is safe and is key to life returning to normal in Montserrat.
As at April 28 1,299 persons had received their first dose of the vaccine and 771 their second dose.
Governor Pearce says compared to other Overseas Territories Montserrat has the lowest vaccination rate.
