Local Agriculturist Calls for a New Focus on Commercial Farming to Reduce the island's Huge Food Import Bill
Agriculturalist Justin Cassell has expressed grave disapproval of Government’s food import bill.
Cassell, who teaches agricultural science at the Montserrat Secondary School says it is unacceptable that Montserrat imports more than 3 million dollars in vegetables and meats each year.
He says the answer to the problem is to remove the challenges hindering agricultural production on island an focus on setting up a number of commercial farms to satisfy the local demand for meats and fresh fruits and vegetables.
