Montserrat Cadet Corp Announce Promotions
The Montserrat Cadet Corps held its enrolment and promotion ceremony at government headquarters Compound on Tuesday December 1st with Commanding Officer Captain Colin Fergus impressing upon the Cadets to work hard to achieve their best.
Addressing an audience including Deputy Governor, Honourable Lyndell Simpson, acting Police Commissioner, Principal of the Montserrat Secondary School, Volunteers, Cadets and their parents, Captain Fergus outlined the focus of the body to invest in all young people on Montserrat.
He stressed the offering of a unique mix of activities and experiences based on military challenges to help to improve the life chances of the cadets at school, in work and for the community.
Captain Fergus says the organization aims to create a sense of belonging and identity where young people flourish, gain confidence, skills for life, values and qualifications which help them seize a better future.
He expounded on the selfless commitment, courage, self-discipline, loyalty, respect for other, honesty and integrity, and adherence to Law as shared values within the organization.
Captain Fergus also used his own experience as a young cadet 30-years ago to demonstrate the pride he felt putting on the Cadet uniform.
He urged the young cadets to canvass the same pride to be the best Cadets they can be.
Meantime, there were several appointments and promotions made at Monday’s ceremony.
There include appointments at the Adult Ranks where Police Constable 29 Paramanand Jailall appointed as Midshipman, Police Constable 11 Jemron Delplesche appointed as Warrant Officer Class 2, and Police Constable 28 Michael Celestine as Probationary Petty Officer.
In the Army Cadets rank, Sergeant Rajay Jackson has been promoted to Staff Sergeant, Corporal Kenisha Burnett to Acting Sergeant, and Lance Corporal Nyack Webster to Acting Sergeant
