Montserrat's Legislative Assembly Welcomes it's Youngest Female Speaker
Charlena White has made history by becoming the youngest female speaker of the Montserrat Legislative Assembly.
She was appointed to the post during the last meeting of the Legislative Assembly for the year 2020 on Tuesday.
White takes over from Teresina Bodkin, who was appointed to the position in December 2019.
Bodkin in her farewell message, expressed thanks to everyone who played a role in ensuring she carried out her function as Speaker over the year, fairly.

Bodkin, a history maker in her own right, was selected as the first female Speaker of the island's Legislative Council on April 6, 2010.
White, in accepting her new responsibilities, outlines how she plans to carry out her duty as Speaker of the House.
