Exciting Calendar of Activities for Festival 2019
The Montserrat Arts Council (MAC) has released the preliminary Calendar for Festival 2019.
Acting Director of MAC, Nerissa Golden, says she is pleased with the level of interest from promoters as well as volunteers who are eager to be a part of the annual celebration.
The festival calendar will run from December 21st to January 1st 2020.
This year will see an event called “100 Days to Festival” which is scheduled to be launch on September 14th.
Two pre festival events are slated for November 23rd and the 30th, “The Queen’s Court” and “Calypso Eliminations”, respectively.
Also, ahead of the December 21st official start of Festival are the “Best Booth Competition” on the 6th,13th and 20th, Uncle Bas & Friends “Just For the Children” fun day on December 18th and “Nite of Pan” on December 19th.
The festivals will officially begin with an opening ceremony followed by the Calypso Semi-Finals.
The St John’s Action Club’s Princess Show is penciled in for December 22nd.
“768 Events ‘Prince charming’ and “BACKYA YARD De Ole Time Way” are slotted in for December 23rd.
A multidenominational Service and Fenyx Creations ‘Miss Teen Montserrat’ will be held on December 24th.
On December 25th- Christmas Day- there will be Miss Big & Beautiful MNI competition and Carol Singing.
A Street Jam and Soca Monarch is Carded for December 26th.
St John’s Day as per norm is scheduled for December 27th.
Top Notch “Breakfast Beach Fete’ is carded for December 28th along with the “Crowning of A Queen” and “Immortal Promotions Elegant Affairs.”
The Regional Female Calypso Competition and A1 Promotion’s ’10 outta 10’ will be staged for December 29th.
Calypso Finals will be on December 30th.
The festival will climax with iDiva Mas ‘Powdah’ and Festival Day on December 31st and a street parade on New Year’s Day.
