Parliamentary Secretary Denounces Gender-Based Violence
Montserrat, like other regional states, is being urged to do more to deal with the issue of violence against women and girls. And this the island joins the global community in observing International Day for the elimination of violence against women on Monday November 25th.
Under the theme “the world generational equality stands against rape”, newly-appointed Parliamentary Secretary with responsibility for social services, Veronica Dorsette Hector calls for unification in the fight against the scourge of rape and all forms of gender-based violence.
The UN’s UNITE by 2030 to end violence against women campaign is focusing on rape as a specific form of harm committed against women and girls in times of peace or war.
