Not the Right Time to Seek More Autonomy, says MP

A Member of Parliament does not believe the time is right to seek more autonomy from the United Kingdom.

Dr. Ingrid Buffonge says the island is reliant on Britain for 60 per cent of its revenue.

She says Montserrat with a small population with limited resources must first reduce its dependence on British aid before seeking more control over its own affairs.

Dr. Buffonge says what Montserrat needs for its long term development is foreign direct investment.
