The Montserrat Secondary School is 80!

The Montserrat Secondary School (MSS) is this year celebrating 80 years since its inception. A ceremony to highlight this milestone and to mark the commencement of the new school year was held at the St. Peters Anglican Church Monday September 3rd 2018.

The MSS celebrated its 80th Anniversary and the opening of its 2018-2019 Academic year with a Church Service at the St Peter’s Anglican Church. The audience comprised students and teachers of the MSS past and present, parents, Education Officers and Members of Government.

Minister of Education Delmaude Ryan in a brief remark, challenged the island’s donors to expand the financial support to achieve at least 20 percent GDP allowing for further Educational Investment.

While reminiscing on the history of the school, Historian and Educator Sir Howard Fergus encouraged the current students of the MSS to take advantages of the opportunities they now have.

The Montserrat Secondary School (MSS) was established in 1938 through a merger of a government boys' secondary school, Montserrat Boys Grammar School, and a private girls' secondary school.
