A Montserrat-Born Attorney to Receive An Honorary Degree From UTech Jamaica

A Montserratian Attorney is set to receive an honorary degree from the University of Technology in Jamaica.

Attorney-at-law Dorcas white will be presented with the Doctor of Laws honoris causa, along with two other honorees at the school’s graduation ceremony early November.

Ms White is being recognised for her outstanding service to legal education and academia in the Caribbean.

Ms White who was a guest on the programme Under the Tambrind Tree, explained why law is such an important profession.

White graduated from the Norman Manley Law School in 1979 and has been on staff there as tutor, senior tutor and as course director for Law of Remedies since 1982.

Since 2009, she has been the senior tutor emerita at the law school, a position granted in recognition of her outstanding contribution to legal education in the Caribbean since the mid-1970s.

In 2017, the Jamaican Bar Association honored White for her sterling contribution to the practice of law in Jamaica and the Caribbean.
