The Department of Agriculture Reports Steady Progress with Irrigation Infrastructure Project
The Department of Agriculture here is reporting steady progressed with its irrigation infrastructure project which was rolled out in 2016.
The aim of the project is to build resilience in the agricultural sector on island.
Director of agriculture Melissa O’Garro says the hope is that with improved access to irrigation, the window of availability for food production will be greatly increased, and at some point the island will become self sufficient in some crops, and see overall improved prospects for the export market.
The director of agriculture explained what prompted the start of the irrigation infrastructure project and the progress that has been made to date.
