Montserrat and the Rest of the Region to Benefit from Climate Resilience and Energy project
Montserrat is in line to benefit from a project to build climate resilience and sustainable energy in the region.
The follows the exchange of notes for the project between Caribbean Community (CARICOM) secretary general, Irwin LaRocque, and Germany’s ambassador to CARICOM, Holger Michael.
The project, to be financed by the government of Germany in the amount of €2.3 million, represents a further step in the country’s support to the region in areas of mutual interest.
In March this year, the then newly accredited ambassador signed an agreement totaling €25.7 million for a sustainable financing mechanism for marine protection in Montserrat and the rest of the Caribbean region.
The exchange took place on the margins of a breakfast meeting hosted by the CARICOM secretary-general for ambassadors accredited to CARICOM.
