Pump Half A Million Dollars Into St. Patrick's Festival

The Coordinator of the St. Patrick’s Day Festival, is recommending that the event be given a budget of close to half a million dollars.

In his annual report Mr. Cassell, stated that approximately EC$450,000 is needed for the proper planning and execution of the festival, which has become Montserrat’s premier festival and major revenue earner in just four years.

He says the economic benefits of the Festival continue to exceed costs each year, which justifies his call for adequate funding. 

Between 2012 and 2016 more than 15 thousand persons travelled to Montserrat for the annual festival.

Although data is not yet available for 2017 and 2018, figures from the Access Division indicated that 5,055 persons travelled to Montserrat by ferry alone between February 22 and April 7 2018.

The 2018 St. Patrick’s Festival was held from March 9th to the 18th and was considered the most successful to date.
