Montserrat Prepares For 4th Round Evaluations

The Legal and Financial Services sector will soon embark on activities to ensure than Montserrat is adequately prepared for its upcoming 4th Round Mutual Evaluation in 2022.

The Caribbean Financial Action Task Force (CFATF) will on that occasion review Montserrat’s Anti Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Framework to ensure that the island meets the level of compliance set by the task force.

Head of the Financial Crimes and Analysis Unit, Deputy Police Commissioner Charles Thompson says his office will collaborate with the Financial Services Commission and other local stakeholders to start the process.

Montserrat was last assessed in 2010 as part of the CFATF’s third round of evaluations.

Mr. Thompson outlines the broad areas under which countries are evaluated.

Mr. Thompson recently attended the task force’s Plenary Session in Trinidad and Tobago where evaluations of Caribbean jurisdictions continued.
