Speaker of the House Calls for Global Effort to End Violence Against Women and Girls
Local female activist and Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Shirley Osborne says the scheduled 16 days of activism each year to end violence against women and girls should serve as a launching pad to further concretize safeguarding activities and not an end-it-all.
Ms. Osborne says while the 16 days combined is not enough, it is a period every year where people focus their energies on what can be done to help end violence against women and girls.
She contends that the fact that women all over the world experience violence in all its forms, is the major reason it will require a global effort to stamp out this scourge.
