Montserrat Hosts Prestigious Everard Dean Lecture

Several leaders of the Credit Union movement in the Caribbean are expected on Montserrat this week for the annual Everard Dean Lecture.

This Lecture will be held at the Credit Union Union in Brades on Wednesday October 17 at 7:00PM.

The Lecture Series was introduced by the Caribbean Confederation of Credit Unions in tribute to the memory of one of its former Presidents, the late Senator Everard Dean of Trinidad and Tobago, for his distinguished service to the development of the Cooperative Sector in the region.

This year's lecture will be delivered by the Chairman of the South Bay Credit Union in California, Chris Otey. He will address the topic “how technology enhances a digital customer experience.”

General Manager of the Credit Union Peter Queeley said Montserrat was fortunate to win the bid for the Lecture this year.

The event will also include presentations by Eugene Skerritt, Chairman of the St. Patrick’s Credit Union Board of Directors, Honourable Premier Donaldson Romeo, and President of the Caribbean Confederation of Credit Unions (CCCU) Winston Fletcher.

The hosting of this year's Lecture Series coincides with the Credit Union’s week of activities and also forms part of its 70th Anniversary celebrations.

The Everard Dean Memorial Lecture Series was inaugurated on March 10, 2000 in Trinidad and Tobago.

The late Senator Dean, a citizen of Trinidad and Tobago, gave forty years of service in diverse areas of the co-operative credit union movement locally, regionally and internationally.

Meantime… The Credit Union here is celebrating a week of activities to coincide with Financial Information Month.

Mr. Queeley says among the events are radio quizzes, financial tips, Open Day and Junior Savings Day.
