Moves are afoot to re-establish orchards in the abandoned south of the island, including the former Groves estate in Plymouth.
The announcement is made by Minister of Agriculture, Honourable John Patrick Osborne as the government takes a step forward to enhance food security.
Minister Osborne says the ministry has already procured hundreds of plants.
