Government Explores Possibility of Allowing Farming in Exclusion Zone

The ministry of agriculture is currently exploring the possibility of opening up arable lands in the Exclusion Zone for farming.

Minister for Agriculture, Honourable John Patrick Osborne made the disclosure at the recent launch of the agriculture strategy at the Credit Union Conference Room.

Speaking during the launch, Minister Osborne stated that A recent National Disaster Preparedness Response Advisory Council (NDPRAC) meeting discussed such a possibility after it was raised by some farmers who interested in farming in the zone where possible.

Mr Osborne said they are currently looking at the hazard zones around Montserrat to see the feasibility of such a venture.
