The government of Montserrat is committed to increasing the proportion of energy requirements that are met from renewable sources. It also has major ambitions for the economy, including the foundational economy.
It is against this background that minister with responsibility for energy Honourable Veronica Dorsette Hector says the government is aiming for affordability and sovereign resilience within the sector.
She outlined that the emphasis is on renewable energy which is not just an engineering matter but one of national security.
