Premier Meade Commends Work of the Montserrat Government UK Office

Premier the Honourable Reuben T. Meade has commended the work of the Montserrat Government UK Office.

Speaking on the role of the London Office, headed by Kei-Retta Farrell, Premier Meade said it has played a vital role in maintaining the island’s presence and visibility in the United Kingdom.

He said the office serves as the government’s representative in the UK, ensuring Montserrat maintains a presence at important parliamentary events, official functions and meetings that local government officials are unable to attend.

“Every time an event is taking place in the UK, whether it’s a parliamentary event or discussions with members of parliament, somebody from Montserrat cannot just fly up [there].”

Premier further explained that important correspondence “going back and forth with the UK government, sometimes quite a number of that is channeled through the Montserrat UK office. So, they’re doing a lot of work on behalf of the government of Montserrat.”

Mr. Meade also stated that Montserrat is “very visible” in the UK as Ms. Farrell represent the island at events, and meets with the Speaker of the House of the Commons and other members of parliament in London.

The Montserrat Government UK Office is headed by Ms. Kei-Retta Farrell.

Since her appointment in April 2024, she has been leading the Montserrat Government UK Office’s diplomatic, economic, and cultural engagement.
