Book Signing Featuring Dr. Yvonne Weekes Creates Buzz in Barbados

Theater performances, author's book signing were last weekend’s buzz at the Daphne Joseph-Hackett Theatre, Queen's Park, Barbados.

And show producer Michaelle Hinkson-Cox said six of the eight staged texts were written by Montserrat’s UWI performing Arts lecturer, Dr Yvonne Weekes, from the theatre production VOICES: Monologues & Dramatic Text for Caribbean Actors.

Senior Tutor Zann C. Ward says the "Theatre Arts Portfolio 2023" was a visual and performing arts production of Barbados Community College, which is celebrating its 55th anniversary.

The director Nala explained that the "show tributes Dr. Weekes and her tremendous work, and contribution to the theatre community which is nothing short of extensive.

The texts by Hinkson-Cox and Kenneth "Jack" Lewis that were staged for the tribute are also found in the VOICES anthology edited by Dr Weekes (HNP, 2021; eBook 2022).
