Montserrat To Benefit From EU Funded Climate Programme
Montserrat is in line to benefit from the Green Overseas Territories programme championed by the Government of France.
During their trip to London Premier the Honourable Joseph Farrell and Deputy Premier Dr. the Honourable Samuel Joseph met with Expertise France, the French international technical cooperation agency, responsible for the Go Green programme.
The program aims to accelerate the energy transition and increase the climate resilience of overseas countries and territories.
Montserrat and 11 other British Overseas Territories are beneficiaries of the 17.8 million Euro programme which runs until June 2026.
It focuses on energy transition and climate change resilience.
According to Expertise France the European and British overseas countries and territories are home to exceptional biodiversity and a unique cultural diversity.
Remote and dependent on fossil fuel imports, these 25 islands are particularly vulnerable to the effects of climate change, which poses a real threat to their sustainability.
The GO programme, which is financed by the European Union, aims to accelerate the energy transition and increase the resilience of overseas countries and territories to climate change, while main streaming gender equality.
