Dentists Identify Need for Dental Care Services on Montserrat

A group of US based dentists who are visiting the island this week at the invitation of the Government of Montserrat have identified a need for dental care services here.

The dentists, Doctors Yvonne Thomas and Roy Street are on Montserrat providing consultations, screenings, extractions and other consultations at no cost until Friday November 8th 2019.

Having observed the existing gaps, the doctors say they are now in a position to expand the contingent for the next visit.

Dental Surgeon in the Ministry of Health Dr. Coretta Fergus says the objective of the programme is to assist the people of Montserrat with their dental hygiene.

Dr. Fergus says even though the services were available to all residents, priority spaces were given to residents who do not usually have access to the Government Dental Clinic.

Dr. Coretta Fergus believes the initiative has been resounding success. The team has plans to visit the primary schools to educate and distribute dental hygiene packets to the students.
