The Montserrat Building Society Limited is accepting new accounts.
Manager Nadia Duberry told ZJB News, that the financial institution had, for a short period, paused the opening of new accounts.
She said that decision was subsequently revised and the Building Society has been accepting new account holders since as far back as 2022.
She spoke to ZJB News after the matter was raised on the What’s on Your Mind programme.
The Montserrat Building Society Limited is one of the longest serving financial institutions on island and had traditionally provided long-term mortgage finance to residents.
To become a member, persons must complete the savings account form and provide two pieces of valid ID (i.e passport & driver’s license, social security card/national ID), Banker’s reference, Proof of income ( a job letter or recent payslip), Proof of address (utility bill) and a minimum opening balance of $50.00.
Persons completing applications overseas must ensure all submissions are notarized.
